My original thought was to create a Map a Day, and feature it prominently on the front page, along with its story and metadata. After our first meeting, it probably makes more sense to feature a Map a Week, at least starting out.
For my first map I went to BuffaloRising.com and saw a story that I liked about a local business owner, so I decided I would try to map out local businesses and do some sort of spatial analysis. It took me half a day just to get the base files in order for WNY.
My personal goal was to spend 2 hours on the map, no more. So, I didn't really think of this site as a place for people to do huge research projects, but to provide a spark for you to continue on with, or hopefully a visitor would find it interesting and expand on the map (and contacting the creator).
I think maps and projects of all kinds should be accepted. If you have an old project that can be featured, I say submit it. If you have an older project you did that pertains to another area, maybe you could see if the same methods you used could be used for the WNY region. That could even be a comparison project.
An archive should probably be built up in case the person who volunteered to submit maps can't complete it on time. I think that asking students at UB / Buff State / etc if they would like to submit their projects would be a good idea.
